Jeana Melilli is the Principal Flute of the Savannah Philharmonic, as well as piccolo player for the Greenville Symphony, South Carolina Philharmonic, and Columbus (GA) Symphony. She is an extra musician for the Atlanta Symphony and the Charleston Symphony. Additionally, she plays Baroque flute with the Vista Ensemble in Columbia, SC and with Savannah Baroque. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Musicology at the University of Florida, researching the Italian influence on 18th century music, particularly through the accessibility of the trio sonata genre. She was recently awarded the Foreign Language Area Studies fellowship from the US government to study Italian for the next academic year.
