SAVANNAH, GA – May 9, 2018 – The Savannah Philharmonic, Edgemere/Sackville Neighborhood Association and the City of Savannah have teamed up to host “Philharmonic in the Streetz” from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, May 20 at the proposed neighborhood park site located at the intersection of Cedar St. and DeLesseps Ave. in Savannah. This is the second annual family-friendly event, but new for 2018 is the collaboration between the Savannah Philharmonic, the City of Savannah and the Edgemere/Sackville Neighborhood Association: A Savannah Shines Neighborhood.
Open to all and designed to celebrate community, “Philharmonic in the Streetz” will feature Philharmonic musicians performing on an outdoor stage during the afternoon of May 20. Live musician performances will include Ricardo Ochoa and Friends, Laiken Love and the Fellowship of Love, and students from Myers Middle School. Magic Marc will entertain children, and young-at-heart, with magic tricks and activities. Bruster’s will provide complimentary ice cream, and delicious barbecue from Trick’s will be available for purchase.
“Our organization is proud to produce and present this growing community-focused event. It is an opportunity to, share our music with new audiences, build camaraderie and highlight neighborhood students who participate in our education programs,” said Savannah Philharmonic Executive Director Terri O’Neil. “It’s very fulfilling to build new friendships and music enthusiasts. Music really does bring people together!”
