SAVANNAH, GA – October 15, 2019 – Savannah Philharmonic, with support from the City of Savannah, is slated to bring a community favorite event, “Philharmonic in the Streetz,” to Eastside Savannah, from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 at Savannah Classical Academy, 705 East Anderson St.
Developed to take orchestral music into neighborhoods around the city, “Philharmonic in the Streetz,” is free and open to all. This fall, the community event, which launched in 2017, will feature musical performances by The Savannah Brass Quintet and students from Savannah Classical Academy’s Strings Conservatory Ensemble, Spartan Singers, and High School Choral Ensemble. Children’s entertainment and activities will be provided by Magic Marc and Loop it Up Savannah. Leopold’s will provide complimentary ice cream, and food will be available for purchase from the Dark Shark Tacos food truck.
“Philharmonic in the Streetz” is a great opportunity to bring neighborhood folks together for an afternoon of live music, food, and conversation,” said Savannah Philharmonic Executive Director Terri O’Neil. “Our organization is eager to continue building relationships with members of our community, and we are looking forward to bringing this event to the Eastside Neighborhood of Savannah.”
While each “Philharmonic in the Streetz” attracts hundreds of neighbors, students and community leaders, Savannah Philharmonic hopes that this event can help eliminate cultural barriers that can exist within our city.
The mission of Savannah’s Philharmonic is to inform, instruct and enrich the community through orchestral and choral performances, and to promote and increase community knowledge and appreciation of the arts. The nonprofit organization’s vision is to be regarded as an essential musical, educational, cultural, and economic asset to the community.
