Job Title: Education Manager
Position: Full-Time, Exempt
Salary: $40,000 – $45,000
Reports To: Executive Director
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM; weekends and evenings may be required
The Education Manager is a vital member of the SavPhil team who is outgoing, passionate, self-motivated, and detail-oriented, energized by supporting student achievement in the arts. The individual, alongside the Executive Director, serves as the primary staff member for developing and maintaining SavPhil’s Educational programs, serving as the staff liaison to the public school systems and partnering organizations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with the Executive Director and working with the Director of Artistic Operations as needed, plan and manage engaging programming for students of all ages throughout the Savannah Region.
- In conjunction with the Director of Artistic Operations, plan the yearly calendar to ensure that core musicians are utilized to the fullest capacity within all educational programs.
- With the guidance of the Executive Director, execute new initiatives in music education programming in order to adapt to an ever-changing climate.
- Alongside the Executive Director, hire and monitor teaching artists to execute the daily programs, ensuring that teachers exemplify the same goals as the organization.
- Work with the Executive Director to build the Education budget – segmenting out each program for grant purposes.
- Act as primary point of contact for all education program inquiries and recommendations.
- Oversee music preparation and distribution for concert performances with student musicians.
- Work with the Marketing Manager and Director of External Relationships to develop and maintain a social media and marketing presence for all education programs.
- Serve as the staff liaison for school and partner organizations in all counties with which the Savannah Philharmonic is developing relationships.
- Establish and maintain strong partnerships with local music educators, supervisors, and in-school music programs.
- Track student progress and matriculation through all programs and understanding how best to adapt and adjust programs as necessary.
- Produce all parent/student and teacher emails, mailings, and updates.
- Communicate with the Director of External Relationships biweekly to provide updates on programs and growth for grants.
- Works closely with the entire team to ensure the success of all subscription and community concerts throughout the season.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge: Familiarity with or willingness to learn educational systems and community organizations.
