Savannah’s own Howard Paul of Benedetto Guitars brings his signature jazz guitar sound to the evening. Daniel Bolshoy, master of classical guitar, performs Rodrigo’s haunting Concierto de Aranjuez. Hear these two brilliant guitarists in one spectacular concert!
Howard Paul is an acclaimed jazz guitarist and President/CEO of Benedetto Guitars (founded 1968). From Atlantic City, NJ, he’s played guitar since age 4, and exclusively jazz from age 10. He’s performed with many jazz masters including Bob James, Cyrus Chestnut, Chuck Leavell, Tony Monaco, Joey DeFrancesco, Bucky Pizzarelli, Romero Lubambo, Harvey Mason, Ulysses Owens Jr, John Lee, Ben Tucker, Mark Egan, Freddie Hendrix, Tom Scott, Don Braden, and Ritchie Cole.
He’s lectured on the Guitar History & Architecture and performed internationally. A 2011 Savannah Jazz Hall of Fame inductee, he is past president of Savannah Jazz, and a member of the Savannah Jazz Orchestra.
Records include Jammin’ at the Jazz Corner (Ali Ryerson), Just Friends (Bob James), New Adventures (Tony Monaco), The Presidents (Jody Espina) and Honoring Pat Martino (Highnote).
Howard holds BA, UNC-G and served as an Army officer (‘86-’96) in the USA, Europe, Desert Storm, and Somalia.
Daniel Bolshoy
Daniel Bolshoy is Associate Professor of Guitar at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music at the University of Georgia. He has performed as a soloist with over sixty orchestras internationally, throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, Russia Israel and in Asia. An avid chamber musician, he has performed at numerous chamber music festival and concert series throughout North America, Europe, Russia, Asia and the Middle East. Daniel Bolshoy appears on eight commercial recordings and two documentary films on the Bravo! TV network. His recordings and live performances are often broadcast on CBC Radio, NPR and various classical music stations. He has performed as solo recitalist throughout the world, often headlining guitar festivals. Recent tours have taken him to Central America, Asia, Europe the Middle East and across North America. Dr. Bolshoy holds a D.M. Degree from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.
