As a Georgia native, Jimmy Hendricks studied with Bernard Flythe during his high school years. He continued his education with a B.M. in performance from Columbus State University’s Schwob School of Music, where his primary teacher was Andrew Miller, Principal Tuba with the Alabama Symphony. Jimmy later earned his M.M. in performance from University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music, studying under Timothy Northcut, Principal Tuba with the Dayton Philharmonic. While at CCM, Jimmy took part in the 2016 International Tuba and Euphonium Conference’s Mock Band Competition where he was one of four finalists.
Jimmy joined the Savannah Philharmonic as Principal Tuba in 2020. He has performed with several ensembles including the Alabama Symphony, Ohio Metropolitan Pops Orchestra, Hilton Head Symphony, Atlanta Symphonic Winds, Emory Symphonic Winds, and the Georgia Brass Band. In addition to performing, Jimmy maintains a private teaching studio, and is in frequent demand as a clinician with the Savannah Philharmonic’s educational outreach program and at Methodist University in North Carolina.
