SAVANNAH, GA. — The Savannah Philharmonic once again wowed a packed audience at Historic
Forsyth Park during their annual Phil the Park event Saturday, October 5, 2024.

With a versatile lineup of performers from classical, to rock to rap, one of the largest, free,
annual outdoor music events in the city featured something for everyone. Special guest artists
included Savannah-born rapper Flau’jae Johnson, opera soloist Elizabeth Baldwin, violin prodigy
Hanami Froom, and Bluegrass band Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out. The 3rd Infantry Division
Band, the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) Bee Sharps, Savannah Music Festival
(SMF) Jazz Academy, SavPhil Strings Students, the Savannah Philharmonic Orchestra and
Chorus, and winners from the American Traditions Competition took the stage to delight the
audience with their unique talents.

The beloved community event included the annual picnic competition where guests were
encouraged to creatively express the theme, “Savannah the Beautiful”.

“It was a memorable evening,” said Savannah Philharmonic Artistic Director Keitaro Harada.
“Every year it’s so rewarding to share our combined musical talents with such an appreciative
audience. The only thing that can top it, is what we’re going to do next year!”

The diverse musical performances ended with the classic patriotic hymn “America the Beautiful”
with an accompanied rendition of lyrics written specifically for Savannah by Savannah resident
Tony Lembeck.

“Orchestral music is constantly evolving and changing. Our goal is to inspire and innovate so we
continue to entertain and influence multiple generations as we build a community appreciation
for music and our shared experience,” said Savannah Philharmonic Executive Director Amy
Williams.
