Arietha Lockhart, Soprano is an active recitalist and concert singer, frequently performing oratorio masterworks, concert opera and new works by contemporary American composers. She has premiered a number of new works by women composers in the recital series “Faces of Eve.“ She is a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus and Chamber Chorus. She is listed on the Georgia Council for the Arts Teaching and Touring Artist Rosters and is available to connect with your students virtually for private lessons or to help teachers by giving feedback on their lessons and approaches to learning in the classroom. Arietha is also an experienced Music Educator and after 30 years of service continues to be active in Professional Development presentations and mentoring active duty music professionals. She has experience in course development for online music instruction and has memberships in ACDA, MTNA, GMEA and formerly held memberships in NARAS, OAKE, American Orff Schulwerk and many other musical professional organizations.
She serves as ACME honors co- chair, District Director and President of the Atlanta Alumni Chapter for Mu Phi Epsilon Professional Music Fraternity. Arietha continues her choral teaching as a Training Chorus instructor for the Atlanta Young Singers. Arietha has appeared with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra numerous times including the Christmas with Robert Shaw, ASO Christmas, Bizet’s “Carmen”, Wagner’s Die Walkure (Act III), Mendelsohn’s “Lobegesang”, “Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “Elijah” and many other incidental solos in season masterworks under the batons of Robert Shaw, Yoel Levi, Robert Spano, Donald Runnicles and Norman MacKenzie.
During the Pandemic, Arietha was active in creating virtual choir music and pre-recorded solo pieces for online performance and each week, she was preparing Hymns and Inspirational music for her Church, many of which can be found on the Solid Rock A.M.E Zion Church, Stonecrest GA You Tube Channel.
Pre-Pandemic performances for Arietha included “Outstanding Opera” with the Georgia Symphony Orchestra 2018. In 2022, Arietha sang the Mozart Great Mass in C with New South Festival Singers, participated in National Association of Negro Musicians and soloist in Christmas at the ASO. In 2023, she was Namesake in “Grace to Accra” by Dwight Andrews and Louis Massiah in the Reiser Lab Artist Festival at the Alliance Theater.
