A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Carl is an active performer and teacher in the Savannah region. He received a Bachelor of Music degree from Arizona State University, where he studied with Gail Eugene Wilson, a Master of Music in Performance from Northwestern University where he studied with Frank Crisafulli, and a Music Education degree from Armstrong Atlantic State University. He is the Principal Trombone for the Savannah Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra. He has subbed and recorded with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the Atlanta Brass Ensemble. He’s played with many regional orchestras in the southeast, spent 4 summers in Italy with the Spoleto Festival Orchestra, and traveled across the country with the American Wind Symphony. Carl recently retired from teaching Music Theory/Composition at the Savannah Arts Academy and his wife Linda teaches Kodaly and Orff at Marshpoint Elementary. They have 2 children; Brendan is a Jazz Piano graduate from Florida State University who recently finished touring Europe for a year, and Tess is pursuing a fashion career in Los Angeles, CA.
