South Florida native Christopher C. Jordan has a multi-faceted career with a dynamically diverse performance and academic background. His repertoire encompasses opera, oratorio, art song, musical theatre, pop and Gospel.
On the operatic stage, Christopher has been heard in leading and comprimario roles with Opera Birmingham, the Teatro Lirico d’Europa, the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra of Bulgaria, the Natchez Opera Festival, and the Gold Coast Opera of South Florida. Jordan’s concert and oratorio repertoire includes appearances in Bach’s St. John Passion, Handel’s Messiah, and Mozart’s Requiem among others. He recently made his European solo recital debut at the American Church in Paris (France) during the Spring 2023 season.
On the musical theatre and dramatic stage, Christopher has performed in tours of “Carousel”, “The Colored Museum”, and “The Amen Corner”. Ever varied in his musical tastes, Jordan has been heard singing on stage with pop and Gospel artists including Roberta Flack, Peabo Bryson, the Clark Sisters and is a featured artist on the Gospel recording “We Study, We Shout, We Serve!” (Ilerbea Publishing). Christopher also takes pride in performing at the opening of several New York Mets games.
A tireless proponent of music education, Dr. Jordan has served over twenty years on the faculties of several universities and colleges in the United States. He has earned music degrees from Florida A&M University, Florida State University, and the University of Alabama. Currently, Dr. Jordan is a faculty member at Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia and maintains a vocal studio in New York City.
