Contralto, Jacquelyn Hamilton, enjoys uplifting others through song. Her solo performances include Magnificat BWV 243 (Bach), Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben BWV 147 (Bach), Messiah (Handel), Elijah (Mendelssohn), Oratorio de Noël (Saint Saëns), Requiem (Duruflé), Gloria in D (Vivaldi) and Rejoice in the Lamb (Britten). In a Savannah State University Players by the Sea production, Jacquelyn portrayed the role of Aunt Ethel in George C. Wolfe’s The Colored Museum and performed the lead role of Madame Flora (Baba) in the Moon River Opera Company’s production of The Medium (Menotti).
Hamilton has over 25 years as a music educator. One of the highlights of her teaching career was her tenure as Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Savannah State University. Currently, Hamilton enjoys singing collaborative performances throughout Georgia. Jacquelyn Hamilton received her B.M. and M.M. degrees (in voice performance) from Georgia Southern University (Statesboro, GA).
